Kansas City Chiefs State They Are Aware of Domestic Violence Claims Connected to Wide Receiver Rashee Rice

The Kansas City Chiefs issued a statement on Wednesday evening confirming they are aware of claims of abuse circulated in social media posts by a former girlfriend of player the athlete and were in communication with the NFL.

The team did not mention Rice specifically in their announcement and stated they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Claims Shared on Social Media

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention Rice by name, posted a set of images on Instagram that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. Jones did say the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has kids with Rice, whom the Chiefs selected in the 2023 draft.

No police reports were on file in Overland Park, Kansas where the incident is said to have taken place.

Player's Recent Off-Field Troubles

The receiver missed the first six games of this season due to an NFL suspension for his involvement in instigating a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that resulted in multiple people injured. He was sentenced 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.

Statistically, Rice finished the season with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Chiefs went with a losing record and missed the playoffs for the first time in a ten-year span.
