Rob Edwards along with Gary O'Neil are two of the early names in the frame to replace the former manager as head coach of Wolves.

Pereira was sacked on the weekend after the team's ten-game winless start to the top-flight season.

And Edwards and O'Neil - both of who have historic links to the club - are among the options to be considered by the club ownership.

Edwards is currently at Middlesbrough, which would create a possible hurdle to his appointment at Molineux.

However the ex- Luton Town head coach - who played over a century of appearances for Wolves during his playing career - is said to be a strong candidate for the position.

The 42-year-old is said to have backing from the Wolves board as they begin the search of appointing a fresh head coach.

O'Neil is also emerging as a unexpected candidate, even though he would be a shock choice given he was released by the club in the previous winter.

The former West Ham player is currently unemployed meaning Wolves would not need to provide any compensation.
